Frankfurt to Copenhagen on SAS
Today flying on SK1638 FRA-CPH, on a Airbus 320 OY-KAM in economy, seat 11D. Flight length: 1:30 hr, 422 miles. And a brief visit to one of the many Lufthansa Senator lounges in Frankfurt Airport.
Had wanted to book Frankfurt to Stockholm via Copenhagen and force an overnight connection rather than book two separate flights. Well this wasn’t difficult at all, in fact it was offered as an option without having to force it and the cheapest choice. Bad flight timings worked in my favour for once!
SAS being in Star Alliance share the fortress with Lufthansa whom runs all the ground handling. Trying to find *G check-in… turns out you go far to side and use the LH first class check-in. Lufthansa has a business and senator/star gold lounge in each pier. But SAS screw the system up by departing from a gate in a primarily non-Schengen pier where the lounges are beyond passport control… so that means a long walk by pedestrian subway to another pier just to get to a lounge. Lounge was moderately busy. Lufthansa lounges have a nice selection of food and seating. They were also making Christmas sweets which you were welcome to take. Unfortunately the stay was super brief. Back to the gate and it was a bit of a zoo so ended up just waiting without much carryon. No priority boarding but who needs such a thing when it’s Christmas and you’re around Scandinavians.
The flight itself is another forgettable short intra-EU flight, 11D an exit row is comfortable compared to the remainder of the plane including SAS plus in the front of the plane.
